Step 1: Get to Know Acton
Interested? We encourage prospective families to get to know the Acton model before beginning the admissions process. Take time thoroughly reviewing our website to familiarize yourself with our learning environment. Most families who have gone through our inquiry process have shared that a deep dive into Acton's resources was very beneficial in learning about the model.
You can find additional resources about the Acton model and its influences here. We recommend either reading Acton founder, Laura Sandefer's, book Courage to Grow or watch Laura's interview with Dad Saves America or founder Jeff Sandefer's Ted Talk. The book, podcast, and video cover why and how the Acton schools came to be as well as the nuts and bolts of what an Acton education is like. Parents that take the time to review one of the above typically have a clear idea of whether or not the Acton model will be a good fit for their learner and their family.
